I learned the craft of dog training by doing an intensive,
one year apprenticeship with a well-known and respected Los Angeles
dog trainer. I then graduated with honors and earned a Counseling Certificate
from the San Francisco SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers run by Jean Donaldson.
I
was one of the first professional trainers to pass the newly established
accreditation exam given by the Certification Council for Pet Dog
Trainers. I am one of only a very small number of trainers who can
claim to be "certified."
I am a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), which
is the world's largest and most prestigious organization of dog trainers. The
APDT promotes enlightened, positive training methods and the continuing education
of its members.
I really enjoy helping people and their dogs. My clients are often amazed at
how quickly I get their dogs headed in the right direction. It may look like
magic, but the skill is simply experience based on scientifically proven learning
theory and behavior modification techniques.
I am a magna cum laude graduate of Duke University. After many successful years
of dog training in Los Angeles, I have returned to my hometown. My family and
I now live in Sarasota, Florida with our Australian Shepard, Janie.
